This list is a mixture of high end, low end and free events that we are personally excited about and think are worth attending! Urban Hangi Masterclass
While both of us have lived in New Zealand for most of our life, we can’t remember the last time we experienced an authentic hangi. This event is on brand with the festivals theme for 2017 “celebrate food as part of NZ’s culture’. The Urban Hangi Masterclass takes you through all the steps of a traditional hangi, from building the fire, weaving kete and prepping the ingredients for the three course meal.

What Fat Vegans of Wellington Eat
We love trying vegan alternatives, half the time they are just as tasty as the sugar and dairy filled originals! This event looks like a lot of fun, Sweet Release are offering plant-based ‘fried chicken’, milkshakes and cakes that are all vegan.

Garage Project’s Regal Yum Cha
Garage Project is a firm Wellington favourite and we expect tickets for this event will be flying out the door ASAP. Nevertheless we wanted to include it, because it is an awesome collision of two epic things – Beer and Yum Cha. Described as, ‘A multi course, multi beer matched banquet’, beer lovers get amongst it.

The Cuban Air Raid
This is a cheap and cheerful fun event that most people will be able to participate in, given that it is held during lunchtime. St John’s Cubano sandwiches will be falling out of the sky at undisclosed locations. Simply purchase a ticket ($25) and wait for the email that morning, detailing the secret drop off location…

Infuse & Inspire with Dancing Sands
A rum infusion workshop brought to you by the talented bartenders from C G R Merchant & Co sounds like a bunch of fun to us. Learn from the best and try your hand at creating your own infusions, the best ones will be featuring on their menu.

Master the Cheese Scone
Wellingtonians love a good scone. The famous Pravda cheese scone recipe is on offer at this event. Get hands on and learn how to create this iconic Wellington delight.

The Thistle Inn have really taken things to the next level with this virtual dining experience, which involves putting on a virtual reality headset and taking a journey with the food suppliers, to discover where your meal came from. A very cool concept and we are intrigued to see more about this one!

The Cross Cat Cafe for SPCA
Cat lovers will be all over this one! Wellington’s very own pop up cat cafe at Southern Cross is back for its second instalment. *Note: if you are in the market for a furry friend, adoptions will be available on-site thanks to the SPCA.

TOASTTTTT!!! Toast is one of our favourite things. How can something so simple be so good? Every day that this event is on, a different Wellington chef will be putting their spin on toast. You can guarantee that we will be at this one!

All of the chef collaborations look epic, Beervana sounds like a great time and we’re sure there are awesome events being held out of CBD Wellington – but this is just our list of events we are personally thinking of attending.
